Hunter Hillenmeyer is an Investment Partner for Company Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in new technology-driven businesses at the earliest stages, where he runs the Nashville office. He is also a Venture Partner for Next Legacy Partners, a firm democratizing access to venture capital, where he has played a critical role in expanding the firm’s reach in the Midwest and Eastern parts of the U.S., and co-hosts the firm’s podcast series, Next Legacy Perspectives.

Previously, Hunter was Partner at Next Play Capital, which merged with Legacy Venture in May 2023 to become Next Legacy Partners. While leading the partnerships platform at STRIVR, a venture-backed AR/VR startup, Hunter was also a Venture Partner with OCA Ventures, an early-stage venture firm in Chicago, and served as President and Co-Founder of the gaming company Overdog, which was acquired by Odd Networks in 2016.

Hunter is a former American football linebacker who played eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Bears from 2003 to 2010. He served on the Board of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).

Hunter holds an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.A. in Economics and Human and Organizational Development, summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. Hunter is a Nashville-native and resides in the city with his wife and three daughters.
